PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alice Wonderland (ranked 25059 p4p, 24244 weight class) and My Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). My Fighter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Alice Wonderland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, My Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Wonderland closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fighter did well to prevent Wonderland getting side control.
Wonderland stalling.
Wonderland looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fighter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fighter is trying to stand.
Wonderland wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wonderland decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Fighter has a takedown stuffed.
It appears Wonderland was looking to counter with a kick there.

Wonderland shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wonderland was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fighter bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Fighter darts in looking for a takedown but Wonderland gets double underhooks and turns Fighter into the cage.

Wonderland manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fighter on his heels. He'll look to pass Fighter's guard now, I'm sure.

Fighter manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fighter prevents a body shot from Wonderland.
Fighter has Wonderland pressed against the cage, preventing Wonderland from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Fighter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wonderland has him pressed against the cage.

Wonderland is trying to control but can't.

Fighter gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Fighter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Alice Wonderland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of My Fighter.

Wonderland looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fighter!

Fighter is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wonderland is controlling him well.
You can see the frustration on Fighter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wonderland decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but My Fighter will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fighter sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Fighter looking to score a takedown here. Wonderland is defending well but Fighter drives through and ends up in Wonderland's guard.

Fighter stands and steps away. Wonderland gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Wonderland counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fighter won't be happy with that.
Fighter is breathing heavily.

Wonderland stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Wonderland fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fighter looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

and Wonderland counters with a left to the body.
Wonderland shoots in for a takedown but Fighter shows good takedown defense.
Fighter is trying to counter with his kicks.

Wonderland shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fighter is trying to defend but Wonderland finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wonderland perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Fighter looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wonderland takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Wonderland gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Fighter looking to score a takedown here. Wonderland is defending well but Fighter drives through and ends up in Wonderland's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter won't allow Wonderland to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wonderland has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fighter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wonderland, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alice Wonderland will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Wonderland decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Wonderland seems content to control.
Wonderland tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Fighter pushes Wonderland off and gets back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wonderland shoots in for a takedown but Fighter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wonderland drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fighter has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wonderland off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fighter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wonderland tries to avoid it but Fighter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wonderland to the ground. Wonderland escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A counter left hand to the body from Wonderland misses its target.
Fighter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter shoots for a takedown but Wonderland saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As Fighter looks to move away, Wonderland throws a big counter combo but Fighter just gets out of the way.
Alice Wonderland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of My Fighter.
Fighter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wonderland as he avoids it easily.
Wonderland throws a quick counter kick to the body but Fighter avoids it.
Fighter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wonderland pinned against the cage. Wonderland gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Wonderland closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fighter quickly recovers to half guard.

Wonderland misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Fighter to counter with a crisp jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wonderland but Wonderland pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wonderland throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fighter was covering up waiting for the punch and Wonderland finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fighter wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Wonderland manages to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alice Wonderland.
I think Wonderland has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
