PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yoshiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sea Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akiyama comes to the cage accompanied by Time To Say Goodbye. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bass fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bass shoots in but Akiyama avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bass shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Bass tests Akiyama's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Bass shoots in and bounces Akiyama off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bass postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bass trying to control but Akiyama is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bass accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bass looking to sit in guard and control but Akiyama gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bass has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Akiyama stands up from Bass's guard - Akiyama perhaps looking for a knockout.

Akiyama uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bass.

Akiyama keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Akiyama lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Sea Bass has been cut.
Bass shoots for a double leg takedown but Akiyama sprawls well. He's pushed Bass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Yoshiro Akiyama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sea Bass.
Left hook, right uppercut from Akiyama.
Akiyama moves out of range as Bass strikes.
Yoshiro Akiyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bass looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bass looks gassed!
Bass throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bass is just content to waste time from the top position. Akiyama takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Akiyama wants to stand but Bass is controlling the position.

Akiyama manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Akiyama lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bass backs up against the cage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bass looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bass throws a jab when Akiyama was well out of range.
Bass looks to land a combination but Akiyama avoids it well.
Akiyama scoring well with a low kick there.
Sea Bass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bass tries to close the distance and clinch up but Akiyama swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Akiyama misses with a wild combination.
Bass throws a body punch but Akiyama moves out of range.

Bass shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Akiyama moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Akiyama comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Akiyama lands a lovely overhand right.
Bass shoots for a takedown but Akiyama saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Akiyama rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bass moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bass has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bass there as he acknowledges the shot.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Akiyama throws a one two combo.
Bass takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Akiyama scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Bass is rocked!
The crowd cheers as Akiyama lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bass doesn't seem phased though.
Bass is still on wobbly legs! Can Akiyama finish him?
Akiyama connects with a right hand. Bass shakes it off.
Akiyama throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Bass colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Akiyama as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Bass is left battered and dazed whilst Akiyama and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yoshiro Akiyama!
