PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyreek Ramon (ranked 4566 p4p, 5874 weight class) and Kelley Funro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

Funro gets the takedown into side control.

Ramon bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Nice takedown defense from Funro. No joy for Ramon on that attempt.

Funro gets caught napping as Ramon dives in and scores a takedown. Funro manages to retain guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Funro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Funro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ramon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Funro would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Funro has his foot on Ramon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ramon works his way back into a safe position though.

Funro tries to get to full guard but Ramon has control of the leg.
Ramon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ramon works his foot free and advances to mount.

Ramon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Funro did well to prevent Ramon getting side control.

Ramon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ramon jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Funro is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Funro and Ramon has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ramon lands a decent elbow from side control.
Funro on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Ramon has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Funro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ramon pinned against the cage. Ramon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Funro tries to sprawl but Ramon drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Funro wants to stand back up but Ramon manages to pass into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ramon grinds an elbow into Funro's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Ramon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Ramon decides to stand up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ramon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Funro gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramon is trying to pull guard but Funro turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ramon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Funro smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyreek Ramon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Funro dives in and scores a takedown into Ramon's guard.

Ramon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ramon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Funro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ramon defends it easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Funro connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Ramon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Funro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ramon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kelley Funro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyreek Ramon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ramon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ramon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
