PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jameson Bojangles (ranked 3304 p4p, 2072 weight class) and Damian Tonon (ranked 379 p4p, 246 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

A slow jab from Bojangles misses its intended target.

Tonon ducks under a wild hook from Bojangles.
Tonon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bojangles is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Tonon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bojangles quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tonon wants to pass the guard but Bojangles is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tonon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Bojangles swings wildly with an uppercut but Tonon uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bojangles stops a takedown attempt from Tonon.

Jameson Bojangles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Tonon.
Tonon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bojangles smiles and moves away.

Tonon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bojangles is looking for a sweep.

Tonon tries for a kimura but Bojangles is defending well.

Tonon has hold of Bojangles's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bojangles tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tonon cranks the arm and Bojangles screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bojangles, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
