PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sub Machine (ranked 4241 p4p, 19603 weight class) and Petr Kotrc (ranked 381 p4p, 483 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machine throws a solid leg kick but Kotrc takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Machine.

Kotrc gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kotrc is wriggling around but Machine manages to pass to half guard.

Machine is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kotrc has managed to free his arm - good work.

Machine is looking for a kimura but Kotrc is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machine to get the leverage.
Machine trying to pass the guard but Kotrc defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kotrc wants to get back to his feet.
Kotrc moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kotrc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Machine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kotrc makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Kotrc decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Machine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kotrc doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kotrc manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kotrc must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Machine is looking for a triangle but Kotrc pushes his legs off easily.
Machine might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kotrc accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Machine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kotrc is aware though and is defending well.

Kotrc avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kotrc is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Machine is trying to maintain the position but Kotrc is very close to passing his half guard.

Kotrc is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machine is just riding it out for now. Kotrc eventually gives up the hold.
Machine tries to roll over but Kotrc keeps him under control.

Machine wants to get back to full guard.

A close round but Petr Kotrc will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Machine tries to clinch but Kotrc moves out of range.

Kotrc fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Machine sprawls well initially but Kotrc persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Machine wants to control but Kotrc is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Machine pulls Kotrc in close to prevent any damage.

Kotrc is looking to work some ground and pound but Machine has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kotrc bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Machine is trying to control Kotrc's posture but Kotrc avoids it.
Machine gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
