Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emilio Carofilho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carofilho comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ven Bailalo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Emilio Carofilho looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Maia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carofilho sprawls well initially but Maia persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Carofilho looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Maia works his way into side control.

Maia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carofilho knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Maia decides to stand back up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maia looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Carofilho on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Carofilho gets full guard.

Maia stands and steps away. Carofilho gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Maia throws a head kick but Carofilho moves out of range.
Emilio Carofilho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carofilho shoots in and bounces Maia off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Carofilho is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Maia has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Carofilho should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Maia has tightened it up now! Carofilho should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
