Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandy Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gold comes to the cage accompanied by M83-Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun. Hawkins has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Sandy Hawkins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sandy Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gold rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hawkins moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gold clobbers Hawkins with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hawkins fails to land the takedown.
Gold throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
No joy there for Gold, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hawkins is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sandy Hawkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawkins avoids the head kick by Gold.
Hawkins dodges the punch combination from Gold.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawkins postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gold looks a forlorn figure.

Gold rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hawkins wants to take a breather but Gold is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gold is trying to stand.
Hawkins tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gold knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gold tests Hawkins's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gold looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hawkins closes the distance and clinches up with Gold, looking for a takedown. Hawkins pushes Gold against the cage but Gold circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gold lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Hawkins tries to clinch but Gold moves out of range.
Gold avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Darren Gold will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hawkins is looking to clinch but Gold is avoiding it.
Gold thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gold tries to bum rush Hawkins with a series of wild strikes but Hawkins uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gold lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawkins circles away quickly and effectively.

Hawkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gold's guard.
Hawkins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gold has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Hawkins.

Gold manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hawkins's guard. Nice work there by Gold.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hawkins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Gold lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch but Gold swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hawkins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Gold throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Gold darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
