PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darragh Fiachna (ranked 5940 p4p, 6183 weight class) and Christopher Nolan (ranked 618 p4p, 634 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darragh Fiachna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nolan gets caught napping as Fiachna dives in and scores a takedown. Nolan manages to retain guard.

Nolan manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Nolan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fiachna changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nolan tries to avoid it but Fiachna manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nolan to the ground. Nolan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nolan fakes the leg kick and cracks Fiachna in the body.
Fiachna definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A combination from Nolan does no damage.

Fiachna drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fiachna jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nolan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Fiachna shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nolan pinned against the cage. Nolan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Horrible takedown attempt by Fiachna or perhaps it was just good defense by Nolan, which made it look bad.

Fiachna feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nolan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fiachna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fiachna shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nolan sprawls well. Nolan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fiachna gets slowly back to his feet.

Fiachna goes for a double leg but Nolan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nolan continues to drive forward.

Fiachna tries to pull guard but Nolan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Nolan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fiachna takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Fiachna shoots in and bounces Nolan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Fiachna drops back looking for a leg! Nolan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nolan manages to kick Fiachna off! Fiachna jumps back into Nolan's guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Fiachna has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Nolan has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
