PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Hall (ranked 1224 p4p, 2246 weight class) and Kevin Shinnie (ranked 48 p4p, 86 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Charlie Hall has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Charlie Hall seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Hall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shinnie doesn't seem phased though.
Hall fails to land the takedown.
Hall throws a lazy right hand but Shinnie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Shinnie! But no joy.
Hall lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hall scores with the left hand. Shinnie knows he should have avoided that one.
Hall fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shinnie is out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Shinnie checks a leg kick.
Hall swings widly with a right hand
letting Shinnie counter with a right hand.

It looks like Charlie Hall has been cut.
Hall throws a looping overhand right but Shinnie ducks down to avoid it.
Hall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hall has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Doom's Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Hall is looking to clinch.
Shinnie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hall.
Hall scores with the left hand. Shinnie knows he should have avoided that one.
Shinnie throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shinnie throws a wild body kick that Hall sees coming a mile off.
Hall looks to throw the jab but Shinnie is out of range.
Hall scores with a kick to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hall looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hall throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shinnie.
Hall lands with an uppercut that bounces Shinnie off the cage and back into range.

Shinnie lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hall's sensitive parts.
Hall is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hall closes the distance but Shinnie moves to the side
and Shinnie counters with a straight right hand.

Hall has had enough of the clinch but Shinnie keeps him there for the moment.
Hall looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Shinnie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hall misses with a left hand
and Shinnie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hall scores with a jab to the body.
Hall with a nice cross.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shinnie blocks a head kick by Hall.
It seemed like Shinnie was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Hall doesn't manage to clinch there - Shinnie circles away.
Hall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hall cracks Shinnie with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Shinnie ducks under a wild hook from Hall.
Shinnie lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Shinnie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hall lands a right hook to the body.
Hall throws a looping overhand right but Shinnie ducks down to avoid it.
Shinnie fails to land with a series of punches.
Shinnie checks a leg kick nicely.
Shinnie looks to score with a jab to the body but Hall is just out of range.
Hall throws a jab when Shinnie was well out of range.
Shinnie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hall finds it's way round the side to connect with Shinnie's head.
Shinnie moves out of range of the strikes.

Hall moves into the clinch successfully.

Shinnie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hall moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Hall swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Hall throws a head kick but Shinnie moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shinnie. Hall does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hall loads up on a big right hand but Shinnie slips the punch.
Hall doesn't manage to clinch there - Shinnie circles away.

Charlie Hall's cut is getting worse.
Shinnie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hall manages to avoid it.
Shinnie throws the left hand but Hall avoids the punch easily.
Shinnie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hall.
Shinnie misses with a body kick.
The fighters circling - Hall throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shinnie throws a low kick, looking for Hall's leg but Hall calmly moves out of range.
Hall throws a series of punches but Shinnie avoids them all with ease.
Shinnie displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Hall tries to clinch but Shinnie moves out of range.

Shinnie pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hall back to the cage. Shinnie follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Shinnie lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hall at a distance.
Shinnie looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kevin Shinnie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice uppercut lands for Shinnie. That snapped Hall's head back.

Charlie Hall's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Hall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Charlie Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hall shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Hall has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hall swings wildly with an uppercut but Shinnie uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shinnie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shinnie circles away quickly and effectively.
Hall is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hall just misses with a punch to the body.
Shinnie misses the shot to the body.
Shinnie feints and then cracks Hall's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hall down.
Hall scores with a leg kick.
Shinnie misses with a hook.
Hall is looking to counter punch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Charlie Hall will probably get the nod.

Hall throws a lazy right hand but Shinnie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hall stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shinnie.
Shinnie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hall throws out the jab.

Shinnie loads up on a big right hand but Hall slips the punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hall avoids the head kick by Shinnie.
Hall throws a hook but Shinnie blocks it.
Shinnie moves forwards but Hall connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shinnie fails to land with a series of punches.
Shinnie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hall.

Shinnie is looking to slow Hall down with leg kicks.
Hall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shinnie pinned against the cage. Shinnie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hall is looking to clinch but Shinnie is avoiding it.

Shinnie's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hall connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shinnie scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kevin Shinnie seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hall looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shinnie is fending him off so far but Hall persists. Nope, Shinnie circles away and we're back to standing.
