PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Slapper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slapper has chosen Dr. Worm as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Billy Slapper!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slapper throws a solid leg kick but Tyson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Slapper.
Slapper thows a left - swing and a miss!
Slapper looks for the body kick but Tyson saw that one coming.
Tyson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Slapper as he avoids it easily.
No luck for Tyson with that takedown attempt.
Tyson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slapper tries to avoid it but Tyson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slapper to the ground. Slapper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fighters circling - Slapper throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Tyson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slapper circles away.
Horrible takedown by Tyson or perhaps it was just good defense by Slapper which made him look bad.

Slapper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Slapper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tyson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Slapper seems to be looking for submissions.

Slapper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tyson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Slapper.

Tyson is looking to control Slapper's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tyson avoid being mounted?
Slapper lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tyson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A telegraphed right hand from Slapper misses the target.

Slapper closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Slapper lands in his opponent's guard.

That's time! Tyson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Slapper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch but Slapper swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Slapper avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tyson is trying to maintain a safe position but Slapper gets an underhook and turns Tyson into the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tyson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Slapper pulls his leg out and moves away.

Tyson is pressing down on Slapper's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Tyson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slapper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slapper's back!
I really don't envy Slapper right now.
Slapper trying to control the action but Tyson just sinks the hooks in.
Tyson has the hooks in. Slapper is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Slapper rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slapper can do anything to dispel that myth.
Slapper is trying to work for a sweep but Tyson has mounted him!

Tyson wants to control the pace but Slapper is squirming around nicely.

Billy Slapper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Slapper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Tyson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Slapper is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tyson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Slapper's back instead.
Will Tyson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Tyson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Slapper has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Slapper tries to roll but Tyson sticks to his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tyson has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Slapper.
Slapper wants to escape the position.

Tyson looking to break Slapper's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Slapper remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tyson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mike Tyson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Slapper has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
