PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Odchigin Khadan (ranked 543 p4p, 427 weight class) and Muhammad Jabbar (ranked 74 p4p, 54 weight class). Khadan's entrance music is Altai Kai (Turkic Throat Singing). A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muhammad Jabbar!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jabbar thows a leg kick but Khadan checks it
and Khadan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Khadan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Jabbar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Khadan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jabbar just misses with a punch to the body.

Khadan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jabbar!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khadan wants to control but Jabbar is keeping him busy.

Khadan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Odchigin Khadan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Jabbar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Khadan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jabbar defends it well.

Khadan misses with a looping left.
Jabbar throws a lazy right hand but Khadan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jabbar goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Khadan misses with an uppercut.
Khadan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Khadan shoots in for a takedown but Jabbar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Khadan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jabbar did well to prevent Khadan getting side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jabbar connects with a nice short shot to Khadan's temple.
