PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Mateusz (ranked 6822 p4p, 5806 weight class) and Klahan Saetang (ranked 254 p4p, 238 weight class). Mateusz comes to the cage accompanied by Marcin Najman-ostatnia walka. Mateusz Mateusz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mateusz Mateusz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Klahan Saetang!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saetang lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Saetang lands a body shot.

Saetang dives in and scores a takedown into Mateusz's guard.
Mateusz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Saetang trying to control but Mateusz is working from the bottom.

Saetang has gone for a leg lock! Mateusz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Saetang's guard.

Saetang throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mateusz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Saetang not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saetang wants to sweep here but Mateusz controlling him for the moment.
Mateusz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Saetang pulls Mateusz in close to prevent any damage.
Mateusz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mateusz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Saetang has his hands on Mateusz's head, controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Good leg kick by Saetang.

Saetang fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mateusz sprawls well initially but Saetang persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Saetang is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mateusz has managed to free his arm - good work.
Saetang trying to control the action but Mateusz is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saetang is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mateusz wants to control but Saetang is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Saetang with the ground and pound but Mateusz uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Saetang trying to control the position from guard on top but Mateusz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mateusz wants to sweep here but Saetang controlling him for the moment.
Saetang throwing strikes but missing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mateusz gets caught napping as Saetang dives in and scores a takedown. Mateusz manages to retain guard.

Saetang stands up and waves to Mateusz to follow him.
Saetang circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mateusz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Saetang is fending him off so far but Mateusz persists. Nope, Saetang circles away and we're back to standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Saetang tries to land a front kick but Mateusz steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A low kick lands for Saetang.
Saetang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Klahan Saetang dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mateusz closes the distance but Saetang moves to the side
enabling Saetang to counter with a crisp jab.
Mateusz fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mateusz drives through and clinches with Saetang against the cage.

Saetang lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mateusz is trying to maintain the position but Saetang is very close to passing his half guard.
Saetang thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mateusz's head.
Saetang has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mateusz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Saetang's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Saetang's back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Klahan Saetang has got the better of the ground game so far.
Saetang tries to roll but Mateusz sticks to his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mateusz controlling the position well here. Saetang rolled but Mateusz kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Mateusz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saetang for as long as he can get away with.
Saetang trying to get back to his feet but Mateusz is in full control for now.
You can see the frustration on Saetang's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Saetang just trying to survive but Mateusz is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I would not like to be Saetang right now.
Mateusz not allowing Saetang to control his hands.
Saetang is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Saetang trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Saetang is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mateusz is staying active.
Mateusz controlling well, preventing Saetang from escaping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mateusz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mateusz slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Mateusz walks forward, straight into a front kick from Saetang.

Mateusz closes the distance and clinches.
Saetang tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mateusz avoids it.

Saetang tightens his grip and picks Mateusz up, before dumping him to the ground. Mateusz manages to land in guard.
Mateusz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mateusz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Saetang throws an elbow that misses. Mateusz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Saetang's guard. Nice move by Mateusz!

Mateusz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mateusz stopping the sweep attempt from Saetang.

Saetang had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mateusz defends it easily.
Saetang is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Saetang working a defensive guard here.
Saetang will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mateusz won't allow Saetang to sweep him here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Mateusz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mateusz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Saetang.
Mateusz shoots in looking for a takedown. Saetang tries to sprawl out of it but Mateusz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saetang manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Saetang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mateusz was covering up waiting for the punch and Saetang finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mateusz wriggles free and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saetang throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mateusz.
Saetang looks to land a body kick but Mateusz moved away.

Mateusz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Saetang uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Saetang takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mateusz misses with a two punch combination.
Mateusz misses with a series of wild punches.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Saetang looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Mateusz throws his legs up looking for a submission but Saetang uses it to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Saetang working the ground and pound but Mateusz is defending the strikes.
Saetang postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mateusz defending against the ground and pound.
Saetang gets to mount! Mateusz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Saetang unloads with some shots from mount but Mateusz bucks and avoids them well.

Saetang is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mateusz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mateusz shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Klahan Saetang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Saetang has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
