Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James O Hara (ranked 3684 p4p, 1477 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 453 p4p, 217 weight class). James O Hara has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James O Hara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Hara punishes Mendy's body with a nice straight punch.
O Hara looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A nice combination there by Mendy.
O Hara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
It seemed like Mendy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mendy walks into a jab.
O Hara tries to land a body kick

and Mendy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in O Hara's guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mendy working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
O Hara is pulling down on Mendy's head. It's preventing any offense from Mendy, at least for the moment.

Mendy is trying to control the action in half guard but O Hara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Mendy is nestled in close to O Hara, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
O Hara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
O Hara is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mendy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mendy's back!

Mendy is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

O Hara is really struggling to control Mendy but he's trying to hold on to the position.

O Hara is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Mendy defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Mendy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if O Hara gets his way!
Mendy manages to reverse the position and now he's in O Hara's guard. Nice work there by Mendy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

O Hara is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mendy is aware though and is defending well.

Mendy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

O Hara has momentary wrist control but Mendy slips an elbow through the middle.

O Hara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

O Hara escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
O Hara is looking to stand up but Mendy isn't so interested in that idea.
O Hara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
O Hara has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mendy is working away from the top position though.
Mendy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mendy shoots in and bounces O Hara off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mendy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

O Hara is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendy pulls his head out easily.

Pierre Ragout Mendy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! O Hara's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Mendy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
O Hara punches the canvas rather than the man.
Mendy covering up well and avoiding damage.

O Hara has got his arm under Mendy's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Mendy has spun round into O Hara's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Pierre Ragout Mendy.
Well Mendy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
