PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fritz's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Metallica - Enter Sandman . Cash has chosen Folsom Prison Blues as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Fritz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Cash!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cash closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cash lands in his opponent's guard.
Fritz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cash throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fritz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cash must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fritz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cash doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cash manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cash with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fritz has his foot on Cash's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cash works his way back into a safe position though.

Fritz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fritz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cash drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fritz manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cash has Fritz in his guard.

Fritz has gone for a leg lock! Cash slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fritz's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cash is in close to Fritz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Fritz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fritz is breathing heavily.
Cash trying to control but Fritz is working from the bottom.
Fritz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Fritz has his foot on Cash's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cash works his way back into a safe position though.

Cash drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cash jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cash postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fritz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cash really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fritz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cash is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cash trying to control the position from guard on top but Fritz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cash loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Fritz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cash is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fritz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cash's back instead.

Fritz is looking for the choke from the back position but Cash is controlling his hands well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fritz looking to break Cash's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Cash remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Fritz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fritz has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Cash is in real trouble here. Fritz gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Cash is tapping out! Fritz wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tom Fritz!
