Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Silent Bob (ranked 1382 p4p, 1076 weight class) and Jake Bird (ranked 178 p4p, 141 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Silent Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Bird!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bob as he jumps to the side.
Bob misses with a low kick.
Bob throws a nice inside leg kick.
Bob scores with a head kick. Bird tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Bob looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Bird shoots in looking for a takedown but Bob manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bird's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bob throws a leg kick which misses Bird's front leg but catches the back leg as Bird tries to avoid it.
Bob lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And Bird tries to counter it with a takedown but Bob pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Bird counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bird tries to pass to full mount but Bob defends it.
Bob trying to hold on to Bird's head to control him but Bird postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bob wants to get back to full guard.

Bird seems to be looking for submissions.
Bob wants to control but Bird is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bob tries to get to full guard but Bird has control of the leg.
Bird is looking to advance position but Bob won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bob has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bird is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Bird is trying to control the action in half guard but Bob is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bob tries to get to full guard but Bird has control of the leg.
Bob keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Bird is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bob has his hands clasped together around Bird's back. He's all about the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Silent Bob will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bird will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bob looks to land a right hand but Bird moved out of range.

Bob jabs Bird right on the nose. Bird blinks but takes it well.
Bob avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bob throws a half hearted mid kick.
And Bird tries to counter it with a takedown but Bob pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bob darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Bird gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Bob.

Bird changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bob is not content to let Bird control the position.
Jake Bird has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bird takes a little break here. Bob wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Bob wants to control but Bird postures up.

Bird tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bird has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bird tries to close the distance and clinch but Bob swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bird changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bob is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at White Eagle, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters circling - Bob throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bird misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bird takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Donk. Bob catches Bird right on the button with a cross.
Nice defenses there by Bird.
Bob with a nice calf kick.
Bird slips a jab from Bob.
Bird takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Bob throws an overhand right that lands on Bird's shoulder, as Bird tries to avoid the shot.
A shot to the body from Bob misses

and Bird counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bird sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bob's guard.
Bob preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Bird is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Bird is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bob keeps working.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bird is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bob is just riding it out for now. Bird eventually gives up the hold.

I would just about give that final round to Jake Bird.
I think Bird has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
