Penn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Penn gets caught flat footed, as Deadly shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Penn wants to sweep but no luck.
Deadly trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
Penn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Deadly tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.
