PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paco Nykanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaakko Paukku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nykanen comes to the cage accompanied by Jeff Mills - The Bells. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paukku ducks under a wild hook from Nykanen.
Nykanen fails with the takedown.
Paukku throws a right hand that Nykanen ducks under and follows up with a left that Nykanen also avoids with ease.
Nykanen throws a hook to the side of Paukku's head but Paukku sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nykanen scores with a sloppy right hand. Paukku should have avoided that one.

It looks like Jaakko Paukku has been cut.
Paukku staying out of range there.
Nykanen misses with an uppercut. Paukku saw that one coming.
Nykanen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Paukku as he jumps to the side.
Paco Nykanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Nykanen misses.
Nykanen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Paukku counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Paukku throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paukku moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and Paukku counters with a series of strikes. Nykanen will be more careful next time no doubt.

A slapping leg kick lands for Nykanen.
Nykanen throws a hook but Paukku avoids it easily.
Nykanen throws out a loose jab but Paukku uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Nykanen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Paukku won't allow Nykanen to pass to mount.
Nykanen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Paukku wants to improve his position but Nykanen is controlling well.

Paukku is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nykanen connects with a nice short shot to Paukku's temple.
Nykanen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Nykanen winds up and cracks Paukku with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nykanen is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Paukku can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Nykanen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Nykanen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Paukku hang on?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nykanen cracks Paukku with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Horrible takedown by Nykanen or perhaps it was just good defense by Paukku which made him look bad.
Nykanen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paukku's waist but Paukku gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nykanen off to one side.
Nykanen throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Nykanen scores with a nice strike.

and Paukku counters with a nice low kick that buckles Nykanen's knee momentarily.
Paukku takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Paukku is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nykanen connects with a looping right hand.
Nykanen circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Paukku to the canvas! Paukku doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Nykanen keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paco Nykanen!
