PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David McDonald (ranked 2002 p4p, 2108 weight class) and Vladimir Tarlac (ranked 278 p4p, 293 weight class). Tarlac has chosen Nobody Knows- The Tony RIch Project as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David McDonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir Tarlac!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarlac misses with a double jab.
McDonald feinted with a counter takedown.
Tarlac throws a right hand that McDonald ducks under and follows up with a left that McDonald also avoids with ease.
McDonald avoids a punch combination nicely.
McDonald gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Tarlac connects with an inside leg kick.
Tarlac swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McDonald counters with a one-two to the body.
Tarlac's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Tarlac duly obliges.

It looks like David McDonald has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tarlac throws a right and a left that McDonald avoids nicely.
As Tarlac looks to move away, McDonald throws a big counter combo but Tarlac just gets out of the way.
Vladimir Tarlac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tarlac misses with a few strikes there.
McDonald throws a low kick but it's checked well by Tarlac.

Tarlac throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and McDonald counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tarlac won't be happy with that.
McDonald works to advance to full mount. Tarlac defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

McDonald is looking to work his way around to Tarlac's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Tarlac defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from McDonald.

McDonald is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tarlac has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tarlac!

McDonald escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarlac gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDonald throws a big right hand that misses.

Tarlac wants to clinch up but McDonald keeps it at a distance.

and McDonald counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Tarlac down! McDonald is looking to finish but Tarlac is intelligently defending himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Tarlac seems to have recovered his senses.
We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are battling for position here. Tarlac manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tarlac swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McDonald is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McDonald avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McDonald tries to counter with a takedown but Tarlac is quick to defend against it.

David McDonald decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Vladimir Tarlac stepped up to the mic, saying 'until next time '.
