PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Klay Dee (ranked 817 p4p, 476 weight class) and Darren Dixon (ranked 88 p4p, 58 weight class). Dee comes to the cage accompanied by Tyler, The Creator - Who Dat Boy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Klay Dee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darren Dixon!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon checks a low kick from Dee.
A jab from Dee finds it's way through Dixon's defenses.
Dee's corner calls for a 1-2. Dee obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Dee misses with a head kick.
Dixon takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Dee looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Dee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dee fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dixon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dee throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Dixon throws an overhand right that lands on Dee's shoulder, as Dee tries to avoid the shot.
Dee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Klay Dee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dee is looking to counter punch.
Dee feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Dixons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Dee throws a head kick but Dixon moves out of range.
Dee throws a sloppy head kick and Dixon moves out of range easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dee scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Dixon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dee. Dixon does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dee misses with a left hand
and Dixon counters with a nice uppercut.
Dee throws a shot to the body.
Dixon looks to land a left hand but Dee moved out of range nicely.
As Dixon looks to move away, Dee throws a big counter combo but Dixon just gets out of the way.
Dixon dives in and grabs Dee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dee pushes down on Dixon's head and hops out.
Dee connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A right-left combo lands from Dee.
Dee fails to land with a series of punches.
Dee misses with a low kick as Dixon jumps back.
Dixon takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dixon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Dee tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice body kick there by Dee.
Dee throws a shot from downtown. Dixon moves away and avoids it.
Dee fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dixon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dee connects with a nice looking jab.
Dee misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
And Dixon tries to counter it with a takedown but Dee pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Dee walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Dixon checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

and Dixon counters with a nice uppercut.
Dee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dixon tests Dee's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dee lands with a nice body punch.

Dee takes a swing at Dixon's ribcage but misses.

and Dixon counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dixon.

Dee scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Dee is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Dixon moves out of range of the body kick from Dee.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dee pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Dee throws a big shot that misses.
Dixon just misses with a punch to the body.
Dixon tries to clinch there but Dee circles away.
Dee misses with a body kick.
Dee throws a hook but Dixon avoids it easily.
Dixon feints the counter takedown.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dixon crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dee - the referee stops the clock and Dixon gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dee. Dixon manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Dixon has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Dixon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Darren Dixon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dixon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Darren Dixon decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
