PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Hansen (ranked 3848 p4p, 5401 weight class) and Mikko Tiili (ranked 472 p4p, 547 weight class). Hansen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Let the bodies hit the floor. The key to victory for Fritz Hansen has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fritz Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Tiili!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've been hearing good reports from Hansen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Tiili drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hansen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tiili has Hansen in his guard.

Hansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tiili swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hansen drops back looking for a leg! Tiili is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tiili manages to kick Hansen off! Hansen jumps back into Tiili's guard.
Tiili wants to sweep here but Hansen controlling him for the moment.

Tiili displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hansen.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fritz Hansen will probably get the nod.

Fritz Hansen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hansen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tiili's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tiili's back!

I would just about give that final round to Mikko Tiili.
Well Hansen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
