Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Spite (ranked 2560 p4p, 1837 weight class) and Ricardo Miles (ranked 345 p4p, 267 weight class). Nicky Spite has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicky Spite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Miles!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spite shoots in and gets a takedown into Miles's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Miles manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Spite blocking some punches.
A head punch on the inside from Miles fails to land.
We've been hearing reports that Spite has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Miles swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Miles misses with a short punch on the inside.
Spite blocks an uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Spite is trying to pull guard but Miles has him pressed against the cage.

Miles pulls guard successfully.

Spite thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Spite drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spite jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Spite drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Miles dives on top into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miles looking to sit in guard and control but Spite gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Miles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Miles is still trying to improve position.

Spite drops back looking for a leg! Miles is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Miles manages to kick Spite off! Spite jumps back into Miles's guard.
Spite trying to control but Miles is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miles being controlled here, momentarily.
Miles is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spite is controlling him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miles is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Miles cracks Spite with a solid left hand.
Miles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Spite looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Miles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spite is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miles in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Spite working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Spite has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Miles should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Spite has tightened it up now! Miles should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nicky Spite!
