Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rua Degas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rua Degas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Degas looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
Johnson misses with a combination

and Degas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now.
Degas works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard.
Degas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Degas stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.
Degas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Johnson misses with a combination
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Degas slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Degas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Degas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Degas is very close to passing his half guard.

Johnson is trying to control but Degas passes into side control!

Degas decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Degas digs a good hook to Johnson's body.

Degas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Degas showed some decent athleticism there.
Degas looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Johnson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Degas trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

Degas gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.
Degas throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range.
A bone on bone clash there as Johnson blocks the leg kick.

Degas tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Degas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Degas.
Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Degas listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

and Degas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Johnson has his feet on Degas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Johnson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Degas has a takedown stuffed.
Degas gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Johnson.
Degas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Johnson counters by moving into the clinch.
Degas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.
Johnson gets underhooks to prevent Degas's takedown attempt.
Johnson keeps control of Degas as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Degas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Johnson with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Degas wants to get back to striking at distance but Johnson won't allow it.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Degas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Degas fails to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rua Degas dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control.
Johnson wants to stand but Degas is controlling his arm.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Degas is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Johnson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Degas keeps working.

Johnson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Degas looks like he's trying to stand up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Degas counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Degas tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it.

and Degas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Degas tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Degas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Johnson counters with a three punch combo that has Degas backing up. Degas nods at Johnson to acknowledge the strikes.

Degas has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.

and Johnson counters with a nice body kick.

and Degas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Degas works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Johnson throws a front kick that sends Degas stumbling back into the cage.

Degas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Degas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.

Degas looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Degas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Johnson manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Johnson regains full guard. Nicely done.
Johnson seems keen to control Degas's posture.

Degas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Degas lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Degas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Degas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Degas wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Degas looks to land a combination. Johnson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


Johnson is rocked!
Johnson avoids the head kick by Degas.
Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Degas finish him?
Degas tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range.
Degas dances in with a quick combination. Johnson is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Degas snaps Johnson's head back. Johnson stumbles backwards against the cage. Degas steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Johnson's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Johnson just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rua Degas!
