PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Everett (ranked 1933 p4p, 2827 weight class) and Tim Blood (ranked 254 p4p, 375 weight class). Everett comes to the cage accompanied by Grim Ranger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Everett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Blood!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blood is defended easily by Everett.
Lee Everett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Everett cracks Blood with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Blood fails with the takedown.
Everett defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Blood.
Lee Everett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Blood.
Blood tries to score a power double leg takedown but Everett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Blood somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Everett throws a hook but Blood avoids it easily.
No luck for Blood with that takedown attempt.
Everett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Blood avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Blood feints the counter takedown.
Lee Everett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Blood shoots in for a takedown but Everett shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Everett tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Blood manages to circle out of the way.
Blood thows a left - swing and a miss!
Everett is looking to counter with a body kick.
Blood shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Everett pinned against the cage. Everett gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Everett.

Blood fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Everett, pushing him back against the cage.
Blood is working for takedown but Everett is calmly controlling the position for now.
Everett with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Blood has hold of one of Everett's legs. Everett is fighting the takedown attempt but Blood gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Everett trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Blood is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Everett wants to sweep here but Blood controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blood sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Blood won't allow Everett to sweep him here.
Blood works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Blood controlling the action here.

Blood wants to work for an arm triangle but Everett is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Everett trying to control from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blood is looking to take a break and control but Everett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Everett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Blood on the ground.

Blood is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Blood looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Blood is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Everett still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Everett has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Blood tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Everett wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Blood gets back to half guard.
Everett sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Blood defending well though.
Blood keeping hold of Everett's head, controlling as best he can.
Blood regains full guard. Nicely done.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Everett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Blood looking for a guillotine here but Everett defends easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lee Everett will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Blood clinches up with Everett and pushes him back against the cage.
Blood just leaning against Everett, taking a breather.
Everett pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Blood drags the fight down to the ground.
Everett is working Blood over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Everett postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Blood wants to sweep here but Everett controlling him for the moment.

Blood is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Everett frees his head nicely. Oh but Blood has switched to an armbar! Everett is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Tim Blood!
