PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Macaco Cidadão (ranked 6347 p4p, 6245 weight class) and Roberto Congo (ranked 244 p4p, 240 weight class). Cidadão comes to the ring accompanied by Boogie 2nite - Booty Luv. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roberto Congo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cidadão misses with a hook
and Congo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Congo looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Cidadão swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Congo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The fighters circling - Cidadão throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Congo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Congo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Cidadão tries to bum rush Congo with a series of wild strikes but Congo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Cidadão has been working on his boxing with his coaches at BARNEY MEATHOUSE in the buildup to the fight.

Congo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Cidadão takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A jab from Cidadão finds it's way through Congo's defenses.

Cidadão ducks into a a hook from Congo and goes down! He looks in a bit of a mess; will he beat the count?! 4,5,6,7,8 - he's up and looking to carry on! The referee looks into his eyes and sees that he's OK to continue!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cidadão stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Congo.

Congo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Congo counters with a straight right that drops Cidadão on his ass! Cidadão jumps back to his feet. He seems OK to continue so we'll get back to the action.

Congo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oh Cidadão is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A nice leg kick lands there from Congo.

Cidadão seems to have got his legs back now.
Look low, kick high! Congo uses the oldest trick in the book to send Cidadão tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Congo is absolutely delighted - when Cidadão wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Roberto Congo was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
