PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Willy Paz (ranked 4329 p4p, 4313 weight class) and Dallas Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Willy Paz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dallas Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paz shoots for a takedown but Palmer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Paz shoots and misses
and Palmer counters with a three punch combo that has Paz backing up. Paz nods at Palmer to acknowledge the strikes.
Paz shoots for a double leg takedown but Palmer sprawls well. He's pushed Paz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Palmer lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willy Paz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palmer lands with a kick to the ribs.

and Palmer counters with a big head kick but Paz shrugs it off.
Paz moves to clinch but Palmer breaks away
and Palmer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Paz takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Oh Paz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Palmer lands a big head kick that sends Paz tumbling to the mat! Palmer takes a step backwards and waves Paz back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Palmer cracks a nice hook into Paz's ribs.

Palmer kicks Paz off and gets to his feet.

and Palmer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

and Palmer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Palmer lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Paz backwards.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Palmer works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A right hook to the body lands for Palmer.
Paz takes a shot to the head.

Palmer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Paz was covering up waiting for the punch and Palmer finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Paz's head.

Palmer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Palmer moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Paz has worked his arm free - good work by Paz!

Palmer wants to control but Paz is keeping him busy.
Paz is looking to regain half guard here but Palmer keeps moving and retains side control.
Palmer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Paz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Palmer's best efforts.

Dallas Palmer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Paz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Dallas Palmer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Palmer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
