PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Peter (ranked 4579 p4p, 5094 weight class) and Jakub Dvorak (ranked 379 p4p, 402 weight class). Dvorak is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by On another level. Jakub Dvorak is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Peter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jakub Dvorak!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peter with a hook.

Dvorak gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Peter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dvorak wants to get back to his feet but Peter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dvorak is working an open guard so Peter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peter darts in looking for a takedown but Dvorak gets double underhooks and turns Peter into the cage.
Peter is trying to pull guard but Dvorak turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Peter tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dvorak just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Peter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jakub Dvorak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dvorak misses with a few strikes there.
A combination from Dvorak does no damage.
A head kick misses from Dvorak.
Dvorak jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sloppy strikes from Dvorak. Those never looked like landing.
Dvorak looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dvorak throws a series of punches but Peter avoids them all with ease.

Dvorak with a nice calf kick.
Peter moves in looking to clinch but Dvorak pushes him off.
Dvorak swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Dvorak throws a nice looking combination but Peter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dvorak stuffs the takedown attempt from Peter. Peter gets slowly back to his feet.

Peter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dvorak missing with a left hand there. Peter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Peter looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Peter dives in and grabs Dvorak's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dvorak pushes down on Peter's head and hops out.
Dvorak swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dvorak misses with the combination.
Peter feinted with a counter takedown.
Peter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dvorak manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Peter fails with a takedown attempt.
Dvorak scores with a one two! Peter had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Left hook, right uppercut from Peter.
Peter just misses with a punch to the body.

Peter clinches.

Peter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Peter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dvorak, pushing him back against the cage.

Dvorak breaks the clinch.
Peter slips a jab from Dvorak.
Dvorak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Peter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dvorak's guard.
Dvorak wants to stand up but Peter is controlling him.
Peter wants to control from the top but Dvorak keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Peter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dvorak swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Peter gets to his feet - Dvorak follows without any prompting.
Dvorak fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
As Dvorak tries to get set, Peter tries to push him back and clinch up but Dvorak manages to avoid the attempt.
Dvorak throws a nice looking combination but Peter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Peter counters with a takedown into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jakub Dvorak dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dvorak circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dvorak misses with a leg kick

and Peter counters with a single leg into guard. Dvorak didn't expect that.

Dvorak is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Peter presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Dvorak manages to break the clinch.
Dvorak swinging wildly here.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Dvorak digs a good body shot into Peter's ribs.
Peter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dvorak looks to score with a jab to the body but Peter is just out of range.

Dvorak tries to keep at a distance but Peter has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dvorak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A looping hook to the body misses from Dvorak. Peter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Peter appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Dvorak misses with a few strikes there.
Peter tries to close the distance and clinch but Dvorak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dvorak slaps away a takedown attempt from Peter, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dvorak connects with a body shot.
Peter wants to clinch
and Dvorak counters with a good low kick that Peter was not able to check.
Dvorak throws a leg kick

and Peter counters with a shoot takedown. Dvorak fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dvorak is breathing heavily.
Peter trying to control but Dvorak is working from the bottom.

Peter stands and steps away. Dvorak gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Peter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Peter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dvorak wants to get back to his feet but Peter is dominant here and he's now got Dvorak's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dvorak staying busy and making it hard for Peter to control.
Dvorak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Peter looking to hold on to the position here but Dvorak rolls and ends up regaining guard.
Peter looking to sit in guard and control but Dvorak gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dvorak must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Peter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Peter lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A close second round but Jakub Dvorak will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jimmy Peter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dvorak misses with a few strikes there.
Peter quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Dvorak lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peter circles away quickly and effectively.
Peter half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Peter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Peter tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dvorak manages to circle out of the way.

Peter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dvorak is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Dvorak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dvorak looks to land a combination but Peter avoids it well.
Dvorak misses with a wild combination.
Peter tries to clinch up but Dvorak circles away and keeps his distance.
Despite the aggression on Dvorak's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Peter tries to pass to full mount but Dvorak defends it.
Dvorak on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Peter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Peter lands strikes from half guard.
Peter wants to control but Dvorak is keeping him busy.
Peter wants to pass to mount but Dvorak is defending the position.
Peter is looking to stall here but Dvorak recovers full guard.

Peter wants to control from the top but Dvorak keeps moving.

Peter gets to his feet - Dvorak follows without any prompting.

Dvorak unleashes a big counter combination but Peter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Dvorak stalks Peter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Peter's face. Peter staggers backwards, shaken.

Peter lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Jakub Dvorak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Peter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Peter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Peter stands up and waves to Dvorak to follow him.
Peter tries to clinch but Dvorak moves away
and Dvorak counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Peter tries to clinch up but Dvorak circles away and keeps his distance.
Peter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dvorak avoids it really well and circles away.
Jimmy Peter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Peter thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dvorak if he has to take too many more of those.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimmy Peter.
I think Dvorak has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
