Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bryant Brown (ranked 6615 p4p, 5894 weight class) and Ghazi Masud (ranked 443 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masud throws a leg kick

and Brown decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Masud's guard.

Masud manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Brown tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Masud just stands there and leans against the cage.
Masud is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Brown to keep the fight standing.

Brown escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Masud tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Masud throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brown blocks it with crossed arms.
Brown is trying to pull guard but Masud has him pressed against the cage.
Masud misses with an elbow over the top.
Masud tries for a takedown but Brown manages to get underhooks.
Bryant Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ghazi Masud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Masud wants the takedown. Brown is fighting it off but Masud persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Brown's guard against the cage.
Brown is looking to stand back up but Masud counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Brown.

Masud has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Brown defend it? Masud steps over the head and cranks it - Brown is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Masud!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ghazi Masud!
