PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yasha Fillipov (ranked 4780 p4p, 7115 weight class) and Jay Jon (ranked 382 p4p, 516 weight class). Jay Jon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Fillipov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fillipov.

We've been hearing that Fillipov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Fillipov passes Jon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fillipov is taking a breather. Jon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fillipov wants to pass to mount but Jon is defending the position.
Fillipov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
