PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malik Cha (ranked 4586 p4p, 4545 weight class) and Darryl Vidal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Malik Cha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darryl Vidal!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vidal tried to score with a low kick but Cha checks it.
Vidal misses with a low kick as Cha jumps back.
Cha throws a sloppy head kick and Vidal moves out of range easily.
Cha tries to clinch up.
Cha shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vidal defends it nicely.
Cha cracks a nice hook into Vidal's ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vidal throws a leg kick
and Cha counters with a left and a right that stings Vidal.
Cha looks for a takedown but Vidal sprawls well.
Vidal tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cha looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cha tries to close the distance and clinch but Vidal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cha tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vidal paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cha tries for a takedown but Vidal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Malik Cha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vidal avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vidal changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Vidal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cha tries to roll over but Vidal keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vidal lands strikes from half guard.
Vidal is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cha is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Vidal scores with a couple of nice shots.
Vidal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cha missing with punches from the bottom.
Vidal lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Vidal drops an elbow to the side of Cha's head.
Cha wants to control but Vidal is keeping busy.
Vidal slips a nice elbow through Cha's hands, connecting with Cha's forehead.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cha tries to roll over but Vidal keeps him under control.
Cha is breathing heavily.
Vidal seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vidal slips a nice elbow through Cha's hands, connecting with Cha's forehead.

Vidal is trying to work for a kimura but Cha is defending well.
Vidal frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vidal on the ground.
Vidal scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The referee warns Cha that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vidal sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Let's hope that Vidal has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Vidal.
Vidal cracks Cha with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cha defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Vidal.
Vidal scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Cha?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cha taking shots to the head.

Cha is rocked!
Vidal controlling from mount.
Oh Cha is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cha takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Vidal loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Cha scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Vidal land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Vidal stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darryl Vidal!
