PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Penkosip Bizihwaile (ranked 261 p4p, 990 weight class) and Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 36 p4p, 142 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Penkosip Bizihwaile!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jempsa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Bizihwaile has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bizihwaile is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Jempsa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Jempsa throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Bizihwaile because Jempsa loaded up on that one.
Bizihwaile is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bizihwaile sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Jempsa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bizihwaile keeps working.

Jempsa is taking a breather. Bizihwaile says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Konichiwa Jempsa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Jempsa slips under a jab from Bizihwaile.
Jempsa goes for a double leg but Bizihwaile avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bizihwaile continues to drive forward.
Jempsa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jempsa lands with a good body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jempsa is defended easily by Bizihwaile.
Bizihwaile swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Bizihwaile stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bizihwaile wants it to stay on the feet.
Penkosip Bizihwaile has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konichiwa Jempsa.

Jempsa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bizihwaile tries to avoid it but Jempsa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bizihwaile to the ground. Bizihwaile escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A quick step to the side and Bizihwaile tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Jempsa goes for a double leg but Bizihwaile avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bizihwaile continues to drive forward.

and Bizihwaile counters with a crisp one two that drops Jempsa! Bizihwaile thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Jempsa to his feet! Jempsa is in big trouble!

Jempsa is rocked!
Bizihwaile throws an overhand right that drops Jempsa like a sack of potatoes! Bizihwaile dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Penkosip Bizihwaile!
Penkosip Bizihwaile decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
