Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Bellamy (ranked 5379 p4p, 3268 weight class) and Peter Tiernan (ranked 411 p4p, 304 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Bellamy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Tiernan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tiernan is defended easily by Bellamy.
Nice takedown defense from Bellamy. No joy for Tiernan on that attempt.
Bellamy is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Tiernan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bellamy tries to kick Tiernan off but Tiernan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Bellamy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bellamy is doing well to control the position and prevent Tiernan from advancing to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bellamy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Tiernan is taking a breather. Bellamy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
It looks like Tiernan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Bellamy wants to improve his position but Tiernan is controlling well.

Bellamy has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Tiernan is on him like a limpet, forcing Bellamy back against the cage.

Tiernan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bellamy wants to sweep but no luck.
Bellamy is working hard here to advance position.
Tiernan wants to pass the guard but Bellamy is keeping the position.
Bellamy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bellamy looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Tiernan is looking to work some ground and pound but Bellamy has wrist control.
Tiernan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bellamy has his hands on Tiernan's head, controlling the position.

Tiernan throws a big right hand that misses.
Tiernan stands and throws Bellamy's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bellamy is looking for a sweep.
Tiernan wants to stand but Bellamy has his arm trapped.
Tiernan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bellamy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Bellamy is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tiernan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Tiernan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Tiernan thows a huge punch but Bellamy dodges it nicely.
Tiernan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bellamy's head.
Bellamy is looking to get back to full guard here but Tiernan has managed to pass to side control instead.
Bellamy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Tiernan has control of an arm but Bellamy manages to advance to Tiernan's back!
Tiernan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bellamy's guard. Nice work there by Tiernan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bellamy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tiernan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bellamy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bellamy's back!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Tiernan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Tiernan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bellamy swivels and escapes.

Tiernan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bellamy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tiernan somewhat.
Bellamy appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Tiernan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bellamy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tiernan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Bellamy just misses with a punch to the body.

Tiernan goes for a double leg but Bellamy avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bellamy continues to drive forward.
Gary Bellamy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Tiernan.
Bellamy clobbers Tiernan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Tiernan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bellamy.

Bellamy can't find room to land a body shot as Tiernan controls the action.

Bellamy lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Tiernan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A left hand lands to the body for Bellamy.
Bellamy lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bellamy is pressed up against the cage. Tiernan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bellamy down to the mat. Bellamy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tiernan shoots in but Bellamy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tiernan misses with a two punch combination.
Tiernan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bellamy scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Peter Tiernan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bellamy scores with a head kick. Tiernan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Despite the aggression on Tiernan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Bellamy wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nice takedown defense from Bellamy. No joy for Tiernan on that attempt.
Bellamy is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Bellamy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bellamy throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Tiernan fails with an attempt to clinch.

No luck for Tiernan with that takedown attempt.

Bellamy stuffs the takedown attempt from Tiernan. Tiernan gets slowly back to his feet.
Bellamy tests Tiernan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tiernan doesn't manage to clinch there - Bellamy circles away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Tiernan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tiernan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bellamy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bellamy tries to get out of the position.
Tiernan wants to stand but Bellamy is controlling his arm.

Bellamy is squirming around, avoiding Tiernan's attempts to control the action.
Bellamy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tiernan on the ground.

Bellamy tries to control Tiernan's head but Tiernan pushes him back down and moves quickly to lock up an arm here - he's swung around for an armbar! Will he get it??? Yes! Bellamy is tapping out! Lovely Jiu Jitsu there!
