PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vadik Koslov (ranked 2102 p4p, 978 weight class) and Kyle Switzer (ranked 295 p4p, 128 weight class). Switzer has chosen The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vadik Koslov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Switzer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koslov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Switzer's half guard.
Switzer is looking to improve his position.
Switzer felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Switzer wants to control but Koslov is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Koslov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Koslov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Switzer keeps working.

Koslov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koslov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Switzer is trying to maintain the position but Koslov is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Koslov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koslov won't allow Switzer to sweep him here.
Koslov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Switzer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Switzer pulls Koslov in close to prevent any damage.
Switzer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Koslov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Switzer is controlling him.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Switzer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Vadik Koslov has been cut.

Switzer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koslov manages to avoid it.

Koslov darts in and clinches Switzer up against the cage.
Switzer tries to circle away but Koslov has him pinned against the cage.
Switzer misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Koslov is looking to take this one to the mat.
Koslov tries for a takedown but Switzer manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vadik Koslov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Koslov drops his hands momentarily and Switzer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Switzer moves into range and connects with a jab.

Koslov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Switzer as he jumps to the side.

Kyle Switzer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Crunch! Switzer slams his shin into Koslov's torso.
Switzer ducks under a wild hook from Koslov.
Koslov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Koslov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Koslov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Switzer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Koslov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Switzer lands a big head kick that sends Koslov tumbling to the mat! Switzer takes a step backwards and waves Koslov back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Vadik Koslov's cut is getting worse.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koslov shoots in but Switzer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Oh Koslov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Switzer counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Vadik Koslov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Switzer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Koslov. Koslov circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Switzer lands a shot to the body.
Switzer lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Switzer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Koslov presses Switzer against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Switzer swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Koslov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Switzer pulls him back up using the underhooks.

After the fight, Kyle Switzer was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
