PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fee Cees (ranked 25214 p4p, 6455 weight class) and Rylee Jean (ranked 672 p4p, 593 weight class). Cees comes to the cage accompanied by Jordan Smith - Stand in The Light. Rylee Jean struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fee Cees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rylee Jean!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cees shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jean but Jean pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jean closes the distance and clinches.
Jean's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jean breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jean manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cees on his heels. He'll look to pass Cees's guard now, I'm sure.
Cees controls Jean momentarily but Jean frees himself.

Cees is looking for a triangle but Jean pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jean is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Jean postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jean postures up in Cees's guard and throws a big left but Cees blocks it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cees is working an open guard so Jean takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Jean counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jean.

Jean jumps guard and drags Cees to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Jean is pulling down on Cees's head. It's preventing any offense from Cees, at least for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cees sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jean's guard.
Jean has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cees sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jean defending well though.
Jean is trying to maintain the position but Cees is very close to passing his half guard.

Cees is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jean doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cees.
Jean is looking to control Cees's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jean avoid being mounted?
Cees wants to stand up but Jean has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Cees slips a nice elbow through Jean's hands, connecting with Jean's forehead.

Cees decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Jean forces Cees back against the cage and clinches.
Cees is trying to pull guard but Jean turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Jean drags the fight down to the ground.

Jean is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cees loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jean is looking for a triangle but Cees pushes his legs off easily.

Cees decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jean defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cees.
Jean raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Jean throws a body punch but Cees moves out of range.
Cees fails to land the takedown.
Jean steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Cees.

Cees tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jean escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jean avoids the elbow strike from Cees, against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rylee Jean will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cees dives in for a single leg takedown but Jean sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cees is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jean to keep the fight standing.
Cees has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jean is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fee Cees. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jean prevents the takedown attempt.
Cees is looking to break free of the clinch but Jean has double underhooks.
Jean is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jean punishes Cees with strikes from the back mount.

Jean goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Cees escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Jean regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jean takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cees is looking to stand up but Jean won't let him.
Rylee Jean has got the better of the ground game so far.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cees.
Fee Cees has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rylee Jean is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jean drives through and clinches with Cees against the cage.

Rylee Jean comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jean has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
