PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Harris Reed (ranked 5162 p4p, 6659 weight class) and Dante Solomon (ranked 405 p4p, 490 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Dante Solomon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harris Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dante Solomon!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed fails with an attempt to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Solomon! But no joy.
Reed takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Reed has a takedown stuffed.
Solomon clobbers Reed with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Solomon scores with a spinning back kick!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed throws an off balance right hand
and Solomon counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Harris Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reed throws out a leg kick but Solomon moves out of range and Reed only half commits.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solomon attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Solomon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Solomon slips a jab from Reed.
Solomon tries a quick counter leg kick but Reed is wise to it.
Solomon misses with a looping right.
Solomon lands a lovely overhand right.
Reed misses with a leg kick
and Solomon counters with a body kick that stops Reed in his tracks momentarily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reed looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Solomon throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Reed shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Solomon's guard.
Reed scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Reed definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Reed with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Reed stands and throws Solomon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reed tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Solomon tries to escape but Reed is in control.
Reed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Reed in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Solomon is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Harris Reed!
