The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Keane, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pereira Pinto changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Pereira Pinto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Keane to the mat! Keane manages to get full guard.

Keane on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Keane tries to get out of the position.

Pereira Pinto's corner is telling him to maintain position.
It looks like Pereira Pinto might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Keane tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pereira Pinto presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Pereira Pinto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Keane can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
