Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bon Adrien De Moncey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Moncey shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Velasquez has a closed guard, preventing De Moncey from standing up.
De Moncey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
De Moncey preventing the sweep.
Velasquez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Velasquez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
De Moncey has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Velasquez is proving hard to escape from.
Velasquez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Velasquez wants to sweep here but De Moncey controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez keeps trying to improve his position.

De Moncey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Velasquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Velasquez trying to control from the bottom.
De Moncey wants to take a breather but Velasquez is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velasquez can do anything to dispel that myth.

De Moncey is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De Moncey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De Moncey's back!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
De Moncey is trying to stand back up.
Velasquez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Velasquez scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

De Moncey turns into Velasquez and is now in his guard.
De Moncey trying to control the position from guard on top but Velasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Velasquez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but De Moncey puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

De Moncey is trying to work for a kimura but Velasquez is defending well.

De Moncey is working for a submission of some sort.
De Moncey prevents Velasquez from improving his position.
Velasquez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Velasquez.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

De Moncey drops back looking for a leg! Velasquez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velasquez manages to kick De Moncey off! De Moncey jumps back into Velasquez's guard.
Velasquez is controlling De Moncey's posture.
Velasquez controls De Moncey momentarily but De Moncey frees himself.
De Moncey tries to free his leg and advance position but Velasquez is retaining full guard.
Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

De Moncey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and De Moncey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

De Moncey is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Velasquez sees it coming and defends easily.

Velasquez preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
De Moncey wants to take a breather but Velasquez is having none of it.
Velasquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

De Moncey is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Velasquez as he works his way to full guard.
Velasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Velasquez, not yet.
De Moncey looking to pass the guard.
De Moncey is pushing down on Velasquez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Velasquez is fighting to maintain full guard but De Moncey has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Velasquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
De Moncey is trying to control. Velasquez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


De Moncey looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

De Moncey is working for a kimura but Velasquez is defending it quite comfortably.

De Moncey is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Velasquez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
