PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Test We (ranked 4878 p4p, 4899 weight class) and Test Wei (ranked 112 p4p, 113 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We shoots in looking for a takedown but Wei manages to keep the fight standing, pushing We's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Wei clinches up against the cage.
Wei tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wei's efforts to push away.

Wei pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We gets caught flat footed, as Wei shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

We is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Wei presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We is trying to break the clinch but Wei has him pressed against the cage.
We controlling the action here for a moment.
Wei is working for takedown but We is calmly controlling the position for now.
We tries to pull guard but Wei holds him up against the cage and eventually We drops back down to his feet.

We is fighting off a takedown attempt but Wei is just too persistent for him and manages to trip We to the mat. We regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Wei drops back looking for a leg! We is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and We manages to kick Wei off! Wei jumps back into We's guard.

We is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wei defends well.
Wei wants to get up but he can't break We's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We working for a triangle but Wei defends it easily.
We is trying to control the position but Wei postures up.

We uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Wei throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wei defends it nicely.

We clinches up against the cage.
Wei throws an elbow that misses.

We breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wei manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We wants to pass the guard but Wei is keeping the position.

We gets caught napping as Wei dives in and scores a takedown. We manages to retain guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now We is on top in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wei controls We momentarily but We frees himself.
We preventing the sweep.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wei holds on and takes a little breather.
Wei is looking to stand up but We isn't so interested in that idea.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Test Wei will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Horrible takedown attempt by Wei or perhaps it was just good defense by We, which made it look bad.

and We decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wei's guard.

We thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wei swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Test We overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We wants to control from the top but Wei keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wei not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wei closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wei lands in his opponent's guard.

We manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

We shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wei as he jumps to the side.
And Wei tries to counter it with a takedown but We pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Test We is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We manages to break the clinch.

It looked like We was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Sloppy strikes from We. Those never looked like landing.
We throws a half hearted mid kick.

We tries to keep at a distance but Wei has taken the fight into the clinch.

We jumps guard but Wei turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

We has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wei uses from the top position.

We's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wei is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, We has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wei can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as We is looking to escape.
We wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Wei.

Test Wei comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wei has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
