Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Ortega (ranked 23718 p4p, 24575 weight class) and Pepper Mint (ranked 752 p4p, 737 weight class). Mint has chosen Robert Whittaker as his entrance music. Phillip Ortega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillip Ortega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pepper Mint!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Ortega. Beautiful body shot.
Ortega scores with a nice strike.
Ortega looks to land a left hand but Mint moved out of range nicely.
Ortega lands a glancing blow to the side of Mint's head.
Mint takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mint darts in looking for a takedown but Ortega gets double underhooks and turns Mint into the cage.
Mint shoots in for a takedown but Ortega shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ortega scores with a punch to the head.
Mint shoots in looking for a takedown but Ortega manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mint's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Phillip Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepper Mint.
Ortega wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ortega looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mint dives in and grabs Ortega's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ortega pushes down on Mint's head and hops out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mint walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mint tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ortega swivels and escapes.
Ortega jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ortega throws a jab when Mint was well out of range.
Ortega throws a right and a left that Mint avoids nicely.
Ortega is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Ortega throws a nice looking combination but Mint bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mint looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ortega looks to score with a jab to the body but Mint is just out of range.
Mint is looking to clinch but Ortega is avoiding it.
Mint throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ortega's waist but Ortega gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mint off to one side.
Mint moves in looking to clinch but Ortega pushes him off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ortega connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mint momentarily.
Mint tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ortega paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ortega scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Ortega displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mint.
Mint has a takedown stuffed.
Mint walks into a left hand.
Mint misses with a takedown attempt - Ortega sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mint doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mint shoots in looking for a takedown. Ortega tries to sprawl out of it but Mint keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ortega manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mint shoots for a takedown but Ortega saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Ortega closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ortega lands in his opponent's guard.

Ortega distracts Mint with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Mint is looking for a triangle here but Ortega uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Ortega just content to control the position.
Ortega works to advance to full mount. Mint defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ortega has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ortega has isolated one of Mint's arms. Mint looking to fight him off but Ortega twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
