PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Laatta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Bittbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frank Laatta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jose Bittbull!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laatta fails with a takedown attempt.
Bittbull throws a head kick that misses.

Bittbull darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bittbull tries to pass the half guard into mount. Laatta knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Laatta throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bittbull content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Laatta is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Laatta is working hard here to advance position.
Bittbull wants to control but Laatta is keeping him busy.
Laatta is trying to get back to full guard.
Laatta is breathing heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bittbull slips a jab and a cross from Laatta.
No joy there for Laatta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Laatta is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bittbull cracks Laatta with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bittbull's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Laatta takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Bittbull prevents Laatta from getting the reversal.

Bittbull takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bittbull moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Frank Laatta has been cut.

Bittbull shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bittbull was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bittbull wants to control the pace but Laatta is squirming around nicely.
Laatta tries to lock up and control but Bittbull gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jose Bittbull just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Laatta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bittbull really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laatta. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bittbull slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bittbull lands a couple of elbows.

Bittbull thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bittbull looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Bittbull is looking to take a break and control but Laatta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Laatta wants to get back to full guard.
Laatta tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Bittbull has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Bittbull trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bittbull takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jose Bittbull showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Bittbull clinches.

Laatta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Laatta has his takedown stuffed

and Bittbull holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bittbull displaying some good clinch control by pressing Laatta up against the ropes.
Bittbull lands a nice uppercut.
Laatta gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bittbull.
Bittbull lands a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Laatta postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bittbull is looking to stand up but Laatta isn't so interested in that idea.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bittbull pulls Laatta in close to prevent any damage.
Bittbull wants to sweep here but Laatta controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Laatta is looking to work some ground and pound but Bittbull has wrist control.
Laatta thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bittbull pushes Laatta up against the ropes in a clinch.

Bittbull wants the takedown. Laatta is fighting it off but Bittbull persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Laatta's guard against the ropes.

Bittbull wants to get up but he can't break Laatta's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bittbull wants to stand but Laatta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Bittbull counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jose Bittbull is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bittbull in particular looking to stall.
Frank Laatta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bittbull wants to control from the top but Laatta keeps moving.

Laatta has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bittbull can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Bittbull has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
