PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Guilty Knight (ranked 4598 p4p, 4981 weight class) and Pierre Pouce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pouce tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Knight paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pouce manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Knight on his heels. He'll look to pass Knight's guard now, I'm sure.
Knight is wriggling around but Pouce manages to pass to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knight is looking for a sweep. Pouce is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pouce is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Knight is just riding it out for now. Pouce eventually gives up the hold.

Pouce is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pouce decides to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Pouce or perhaps it was just good defense by Knight, which made it look bad.
Pouce tries to clinch but Knight moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Knight misses its target.

Pouce drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Knight sneaks out the side door and pushes Pouce away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Pouce decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pouce thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Knight's head.
Pouce is stalling here. Knight is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pouce seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Knight has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Knight tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

A nice leg kick lands there from Knight.

Pouce shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Knight controls Pouce momentarily but Pouce frees himself.

Pouce stands and throws Knight's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pouce decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Guilty Knight is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pouce throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Knight's waist but Knight gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pouce off to one side.
Pouce takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Knight tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pouce was well out of range. Poor timing from Knight.
Pouce shoots in for a takedown but Knight shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pouce shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Knight counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Pouce shoots for a takedown but Knight saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pouce closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Knight's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pouce is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Knight defends well.

Pouce has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Knight can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pouce is pulling down on Knight's head. It's preventing any offense from Knight, at least for the moment.

Pouce throws his legs up looking for a submission but Knight uses it to pass to side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pouce is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Knight's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Guilty Knight will probably get the nod.

Pouce should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pouce has Knight pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Knight manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Pouce jumps guard but Knight stands there with Pouce around his waist. Pouce gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pouce jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Knight walks away with a smile on his face. Pouce gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Knight makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Pouce really felt that one!

and Knight counters with a nice body kick.
Knight lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Pouce looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pouce goes for a double leg but Knight avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Knight continues to drive forward.

Pouce drives through with a takedown into Knight's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Pouce takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
