PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Durston (ranked 6529 p4p, 2870 weight class) and Dom Walsh (ranked 675 p4p, 372 weight class). Walsh comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Machine Head kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kyle Durston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dom Walsh!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durston throws a sloppy head kick and Walsh moves out of range easily.
Walsh shoots in looking for a takedown but Durston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walsh's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walsh tries to close the distance and clinch but Durston swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Walsh gets a takedown into half guard.
Walsh is thwarting Durston's attempts to control the position.
Durston moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walsh keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Durston's head.

Walsh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Durston has his hands on Walsh's head, controlling the position.

Walsh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Durston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walsh has managed to get both his arms back between Durston's legs - danger averted.
Walsh is fighting to break Durston's control of his arms but Durston is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Walsh won't allow Durston to sweep him here.

Walsh tries to advance to mount but Durston denies him.
Durston avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Walsh.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Walsh is trying to get an arm triangle but Durston is defending well.
Walsh is working Durston over with some ground and pound from side control.
Walsh tries to move into full mount but can't pass Durston's legs.

Walsh working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Durston tries to bench press Walsh off him but Walsh keeps the position.
Durston is trying to control Walsh's posture but Walsh avoids it.

Walsh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Durston has escaped the position, nice work there.
Durston pushes Walsh away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Walsh gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Walsh goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Durston rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Walsh's guard! Nice work there by Durston!

Walsh has his foot on Durston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Durston works his way back into a safe position though.

Durston is pushing down on Walsh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Walsh is fighting to maintain full guard but Durston has managed to sneak the leg through.

Walsh wants to improve his position but Durston is controlling well.

Walsh is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Durston's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Durston's back!

That's time! Durston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Walsh moves into range and connects with a jab.
Durston misses with the body kick

and Walsh counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Walsh wants to control from the top but Durston keeps moving.
Walsh wants to stand and escape but instead Durston has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Durston engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Walsh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Durston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walsh has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Durston looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Walsh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Durston looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Walsh is looking to take a break and control but Durston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Walsh is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Durston is just riding it out for now. Walsh eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are battling for position here. Durston manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Durston manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Walsh manages to get himself to full guard.

Durston wants to pass the guard but Walsh is keeping the position.

Walsh is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Walsh has a closed guard, preventing Durston from standing up.

Durston is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Durston pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walsh is keeping the position for now.

Walsh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Durston defends well.
Walsh keeping moving, preventing Durston from controlling successfully.
Durston slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Walsh is trying to control the position but Durston postures up.
Durston wants to pass the guard but Walsh is keeping the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Walsh throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walsh shoots for a double leg takedown but Durston sprawls well. He's pushed Walsh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Durston moves out of range of the leg kick from Walsh.
Durston digs a good body shot into Walsh's ribs.
Dom Walsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A right-left combo lands from Durston.
Walsh shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Durston keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Durston scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've been hearing that Durston has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Durston takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Walsh is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Durston pulls his head out easily.

Durston is trying to get back to his feet but Walsh has full control of the position and if anything, Durston has just worked his way into a worse spot.
