Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jax Dredd (ranked 4809 p4p, 4958 weight class) and Lucas Kuas (ranked 586 p4p, 599 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dredd shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kuas as he jumps to the side.
Dredd lands with a shot to the body.

Kuas pushes Dredd up against the cage in a clinch.

Kuas turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Dredd is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kuas connects with a decent elbow.
Dredd is looking for a sweep.

Dredd seems a little lost for a moment, as Kuas dominates the positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuas tries to score with some ground and pound. Dredd controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kuas stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Dredd uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Dredd connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kuas. Kuas circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Dredd goes for a double leg but Kuas avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kuas continues to drive forward.

Dredd is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kuas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dredd to the mat. Dredd regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Kuas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dredd is just riding it out for now. Kuas eventually gives up the hold.

Kuas is trying to control the action in half guard but Dredd is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A punch lands to the side of Kuas 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Dredd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dredd dives in and grabs Kuas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kuas pushes down on Dredd's head and hops out.
Dredd bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kuas's head backwards.
Kuas leaves Dredd with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kuas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dredd sprawls well initially but Kuas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kuas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dredd defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuas is breathing heavily.
Kuas wants to take a breather but Dredd is having none of it.

Kuas lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dredd is staying active underneath Kuas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kuas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dredd haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kuas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Dredd shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kuas sprawls well. Kuas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dredd gets slowly back to his feet.

Dredd shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kuas pinned against the cage. Kuas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dredd shoots for a double leg takedown but Kuas sprawls well. He's pushed Dredd's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dredd shoots in looking for a takedown. Kuas tries to sprawl out of it but Dredd keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kuas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kuas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dredd looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kuas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jax Dredd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Kuas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
