Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Peters (ranked 5725 p4p, 5120 weight class) and Frederic Bastiat (ranked 678 p4p, 623 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frederic Bastiat!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Bastiat decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Peters's guard.

Peters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Bastiat tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Peters smiles and moves away.
Peters is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bastiat with the counter takedown but Peters avoids it easily.

and Bastiat counters with a shoot takedown. Peters fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bastiat is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bastiat throws an elbow that misses. Peters uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bastiat's guard. Nice move by Peters!


Bastiat is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Peters defends well.

Peters throws a big right hand that misses.
Bastiat looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Peters gets to his feet - Bastiat follows without any prompting.
Bastiat is looking to clinch.
Peters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bastiat as he avoids it easily.
Bastiat misses with a double jab.
Peters seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Bastiat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bastiat wants it to stay on the feet.
Bastiat leaves Peters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Peters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bastiat drives through with a takedown into Peters's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Peters looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bastiat puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Peters regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bastiat.

Bastiat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Peters is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

so Bastiat counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Peters is looking for a triangle but Bastiat pushes his legs off easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bastiat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bastiat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Peters drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bastiat manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Peters has Bastiat in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peters wants to pass the guard but Bastiat is keeping the position.

Bastiat wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Frederic Bastiat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Bastiat. Peters does a little dance to reset his feet.
Peters feinted with a counter takedown.
Nice uppercut there from Bastiat.
Peters lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bastiat at a distance.
Bastiat tries to clinch up but Peters circles away and keeps his distance.
Bastiat fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bastiat scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Peters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Peters walks into a jab.
Peters shoots for a takedown but Bastiat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bastiat tries to close the distance and clinch but Peters swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Peters throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Peters dives in and grabs Bastiat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bastiat pushes down on Peters's head and hops out.

and Bastiat counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bastiat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bastiat throws a strike but Peters rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Peters wants to hit a sweep here but Bastiat passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Peters there!

Jeez, Josh Peters's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Josh Peters's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
