PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chinnarach Kanjanasuwan (ranked 5311 p4p, 5940 weight class) and Matheus Cano (ranked 534 p4p, 580 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chinnarach Kanjanasuwan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matheus Cano!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanjanasuwan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cano crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kanjanasuwan - the referee stops the clock and Cano gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kanjanasuwan. Cano manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Kanjanasuwan throws a nice looking combination but Cano bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Cano thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cano postures up in Kanjanasuwan's guard and throws a big left but Kanjanasuwan blocks it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Kanjanasuwan manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Kanjanasuwan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kanjanasuwan wants it to stay on the feet.
Kanjanasuwan looks to land a body kick but Cano moved away.
Cano shoots in looking for a takedown but Kanjanasuwan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cano's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kanjanasuwan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kanjanasuwan wants it to stay on the feet.
Chinnarach Kanjanasuwan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matheus Cano.

Cano tries to close the distance and clinch but Kanjanasuwan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice takedown defense from Kanjanasuwan. No joy for Cano on that attempt.

Kanjanasuwan throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kanjanasuwan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cano.
Kanjanasuwan lands with a slapping head kick.

Cano feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cano has gone for a leg lock! Kanjanasuwan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cano's guard.


Kanjanasuwan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kanjanasuwan has managed to get both his arms back between Cano's legs - danger averted.

Kanjanasuwan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Kanjanasuwan counters with a one-two to the body.

Cano throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kanjanasuwan's waist but Kanjanasuwan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cano off to one side.
No joy there for Kanjanasuwan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cano is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cano isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kanjanasuwan stacks Cano on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kanjanasuwan!
