Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Reid (ranked 4648 p4p, 6620 weight class) and Jack Kelly (ranked 406 p4p, 609 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Francis DeMontford and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kelly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Reid is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kelly off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelly wants to get back to his feet.
Kelly trying to control but not successfully.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kelly is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reid has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kelly has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kelly manages to reverse the position and now he's in Reid's guard. Nice work there by Kelly.
Kelly must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kelly lands a nice short elbow.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Reid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kelly wants to counter with a clinch but Reid pushes him away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reid enables Kelly to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reid manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Reid is adopting a defensive guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelly stands up over Reid, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Reid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kelly defends well.

Reid is pulling down on Kelly's head. It's preventing any offense from Kelly, at least for the moment.
Kelly is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reid avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kelly trying to control but Reid is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kelly manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Reid on his heels. He'll look to pass Reid's guard now, I'm sure.

Kelly looking to sit in guard and control but Reid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Charlie Reid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Reid makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Reid slips nicely into half guard.
Kelly is trying to control but can't.
Kelly preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Reid is stalling here. Kelly is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Reid seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kelly has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kelly goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Reid rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kelly's guard! Nice work there by Reid!
Kelly is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reid scoring with punches to the head and body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Kelly will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Reid feints and as Kelly raises his hands in defense, Reid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Reid controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Kelly is looking for a triangle here but Reid uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kelly avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Reid.

Reid in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kelly is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
