The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ukkonen closes the distance and pushes Laitela back into the cage.

Ukkonen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Laitela clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Laitela breaks Ukkonen's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ukkonen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ukkonen trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Laitela drops back looking for a leg! Ukkonen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ukkonen manages to kick Laitela off! Laitela jumps back into Ukkonen's guard.
Ukkonen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ukkonen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Laitela manages to get himself to full guard.

Laitela is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Laitela has his foot on Ukkonen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ukkonen works his way back into a safe position though.

Ukkonen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Laitela is just riding it out for now. Ukkonen eventually gives up the hold.

Laitela manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ukkonen wants to pass the guard but Laitela is defending well.
Laitela really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
