Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Banks (ranked 3922 p4p, 3919 weight class) and Shane Ryan (ranked 506 p4p, 504 weight class). Freddy Banks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shane Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Banks dives in for a single leg takedown but Ryan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ryan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ryan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Banks keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ryan's head.
Banks passes Ryan's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ryan is looking for a sweep. Banks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Banks is looking for a kimura but Ryan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Banks to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryan is trying to control but can't.
Ryan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Banks wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.

Ryan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Banks controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Banks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ryan, up you get!
Banks fails to land the takedown.

Banks looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ryan is wriggling around but Banks manages to pass to half guard.

Banks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ryan trying to hold on to Banks's head to control him but Banks postures up.
Ryan won't allow Banks to pass to mount.

Banks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ryan is trying to maintain the position but Banks is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Ryan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ryan wants to sweep here but Banks controlling him for the moment.
Banks pushing down on Ryan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Ryan is controlling Banks's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Ryan wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Banks wants to take a breather but Ryan is having none of it.

Banks stands up from half guard.
Ryan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Banks avoids it really well and circles away.
Ryan misses with a takedown attempt - Banks sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ryan blocks a head kick by Banks.
Ryan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Banks defends well and Ryan ends up having to push Banks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A counter left hand to the body from Banks misses its target.
Freddy Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Ryan.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Banks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryan but Ryan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As Banks backs off Ryan throws a huge counter combo but Banks manages to avoid it all.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Banks shoots in and drives through. Ryan sprawls well.
Banks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryan but Ryan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ryan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Banks rushes Ryan and presses him up against the cage.

Banks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Banks wants to clinch up but Ryan keeps it at a distance.

Freddy Banks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ryan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banks swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ryan catches Banks with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Banks is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Banks shoots in for a takedown but Ryan shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Banks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banks scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Banks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ryan.

Ryan darts in and clinches Banks up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Banks gets control of Ryan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Banks will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Banks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ryan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ryan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Banks is keeping the position for now.
Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Banks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Banks has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ryan doesn't defend quickly enough and Banks has managed to lock this one up! Can Ryan escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Banks on a fantastic submission victory.
