Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Hooper (ranked 2526 p4p, 2413 weight class) and Frank Diaz (ranked 372 p4p, 353 weight class). Danilo Hooper has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danilo Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails with the takedown.
Diaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hooper.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.
Diaz sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there.

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hooper trying to keep a closed guard but Diaz is proving a slippery customer.

Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Diaz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Hooper is looking for a sweep.
Hooper is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Javi Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here.
Diaz cracks Hooper with a big right hand but Hooper just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Hooper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Diaz prevents Hooper from escaping the position.

Diaz fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hooper keeping his opponent close.
Hooper manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Diaz controlling the pace.
Diaz wants to pass to mount but Hooper is defending the position.
Diaz blocks the strikes from Hooper.
Hooper on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Diaz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Diaz performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Diaz prevents Hooper from standing back up.
Diaz trying to mount his opponent but Hooper defends it.
Diaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Diaz passes to full mount!
Hooper tries to reverse the position but Diaz maintains control.

Diaz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hooper can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Diaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hooper to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hooper shrugs it off.

Hooper tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Hooper is in real trouble.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hooper tries to escape but Diaz has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Diaz dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Diaz avoids a kick to the body.
Hooper displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.
Hooper jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Diaz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Diaz gets the takedown into side control.

Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hooper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Diaz throws a strike aimed at the side of Hooper's head but Hooper avoids it well.

Diaz is working to tighten his grip on Hooper's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hooper has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Diaz is really squeezing tight and eventually Hooper passes out! Diaz breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Frank Diaz!
A very excited looking Frank Diaz made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
