Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Cannson (ranked 4088 p4p, 5777 weight class) and Durans Helmsfrid (ranked 520 p4p, 650 weight class). Cannson comes to the cage accompanied by Unstoppable. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Steve Cannson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Durans Helmsfrid!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cannson misses with a takedown attempt - Helmsfrid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Helmsfrid stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Helmsfrid wants it to stay on the feet.
Cannson leaves Helmsfrid with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cannson seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Cannson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Helmsfrid swivels and escapes.

We've been hearing good reports from Cannson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Helmsfrid changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cannson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cannson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Helmsfrid throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cannson's waist but Cannson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Helmsfrid off to one side.

Cannson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cannson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Helmsfrid gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Cannson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cannson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Helmsfrid is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cannson to the mat. Cannson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cannson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Helmsfrid can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The referee warns Helmsfrid that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cannson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Helmsfrid is still in real trouble! Can Cannson finish him?
Helmsfrid is in a horrible position here. Cannson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cannson is landing with some decent strikes but Helmsfrid is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
A big strike lands for Cannson! That's really hurt Helmsfrid and he's turned his back - Cannson keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Cannson jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Cannson!
