The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martindale avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pace shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Martindale sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Martindale has one foot on Pace's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Martindale shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pace's guard.

Martindale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pace swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Pace takes the fight into the clinch.

Martindale has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pace regains guard immediately.
